Guess what day it is?! Thursday, one
more day until FRIDAY!! Which also means it’s time for: #thriftscorethursday!!
Every single stinking week, I want to
reach through the screen and steal all your thrifty treasures for real. I guess I’d have to find a
rusty old barn and open up a museum of sorts… wait, that doesn’t sound so bad…
For those of you new ‘round these parts,
every week Brynne from The Gathered Home, Megan from Rental Revival and
I gush all over YOUR #thriftscorethursday submissions. We invite you to show
off your treasures, mingle, and share your jaw-dropping absolute steals on
designer goods found at the bottom of the goodwill bins. Don’t believe me check
out Deanna and Ashley’s Nate Berkus finds (here and here).
I recently had the pleasure of working
with Jodi and Audrine from The Glittered Barn LLC for my very first FULL Blogger web-design
and branding. Chea, web designer—still
don’t feel worthy of that title just yet. The Glittered Barn LLC is a blog all about their creative furniture makeovers in which they sels in her area and on Etsy. We’ve
been working behind the scenes on the site design for quite some time and finally
put the finishing touches two weeks ago and then installed last Tuesday (talk about a busy week!)
Jodi and Audrine’s only request was to keep their existing color scheme. Gladly taking the design freedom and the color
preference, I approached their branding in the literal sense. You know glitter
and barns and all that jazz.
Let’s begin with a style guide of the site:
I feel it’s the perfect mix of barn
elements without bringing it to the farm animal level. It’s also not too girly
by bringing in the pops of green and just the right amount of glitter.
I really hope you’re not sick of my
latest obsession with Geometrics obsession, because I’m going all Kylie Minogue-
“lalala, I just can’t get them out of my head.” Pretty sure my middle school
geometry teacher would be proud- of the
math, not the singing silly!
and White Obsession's Product Policy can be viewed here.
Today I’m going to show you how I made this
fun paper Geometric Favor Box using
supplies from the AmyTangerine Plus One Collection (available to the public
via HSN starting March 24).
Fair warning, the favor box is geared
toward the very special thank you’s in your life- since it’s created with a
little time and love. You know like ‘thanks for watching Biggie Smalls for the day, sorry for drool on the
ceiling’ or neighborly ones like ‘thanks for always picking up your dog’s doo,’ if not you could always send a hilarious dog flag care package.
Ohhkay, I’ll try to rein in the 8th
grade child’s play.
Can I get a little raise the roof
action for this week’s #thriftscorethursday?
I mean y’all really know how to get someone to waste the day away, in a totally drool-tastic way of course!!
I think this week we’ve had the most submissions to date (22
on Instagram and four
on Twitter) yet!!
If you’re new around these areas,
Brynne from The Gathered Home, Megan from Rental Revival,
and I created this little challenge- to get out there and scour your thrift
stores, dumpsters, antique stores, auctions, estate sales, or anywhere else
second hand. These finds can be something you scored (probably an amazing
deal), left behind, or laughed so hard your face muscles hurt. Snap a photo and
hashtag #thriftscorethursday on
Instagram or #thriftscorethursday on
Twitter. We’ll mingle and chuckle right along with you. Who knows, maybe
you’ll find some new Insta-friends!!
If you’ve ever been fed-up with your image hosting site not displaying your images, you know how painful it is to drop everything you’re doing to fix the issue. Or worse, their site is down and you feel like a sitting duck. This can be especially daunting when you’re already juggling the never ending blog to-do list. Today, I’m going to show you a work around on How to Host Images on Blogger.
Within this tutorial you will learn:
Why make the switch from Photobucket?
Unveil the mystery as to where Google hosts Blogger photos.
Precautions to keep your blog photos safe.
Instructions how to host photos in blogger + how to keep them organized.
Is it really Thursday?! I think I missed a day somewhere this week, ha! Anywho it’s time for #thriftscorethursday, are you ready for this jelly?!
My lovely co-hosts Brynne from The Gathered Home,
Megan from Rental Revival and I challenge YOU, every week
to scope out those estate sales, hang out at your favorite thrift stores, or
even ‘take the dog for a walk on garbage day’ for those curbside freebies- then
come back here and share your finds using the hashtag #thriftscorethursday on
Instagram or #thriftscorethursday on
Gratitude is something that I’ve
been incredibly passionate about since forever and have recently explored new
ways to incorporating into my daily life. So naturally, I decided to combine a
few of my favorite things-- DIY, Black and White, Appreciation, Inexpensive, and
Pretty Things-- to create this Geometric Heart Journal. This was the perfect combination
to jump-start this gratitude revolution in the right direction.
My favorite part about this
journal is that the geometric heart is lined up perfectly along the spine so
that when closed, it looks like a half a heart. But when opening the journal,
to read or gently set aside, the entire heart is revealed.
And guess what?! This project is ridiculouslyeasy to re-create my friends. Oh and it was completely FREE since I
just raided some office and craft supplies (gotta love having everything
Unthaw your goodwill cards and hang out
with Megan from RentalRevival, Brynne
from TheGathered Home, and I as we dish about our thrifty
purchases. The best part is that we beg er WANT YOU to scour your local
thrift stores to find unique and interesting pieces and share them with US!
I’m a firm believer that paint can
quickly take a room from drab to chic with a few swipes of paint roller. Our
Entryway proves that 100 times over (well after we rip up that old dingy orange
carpet)!! Let’s do a quick little side by side comparison shall we?
