7 #thriftscorethursday Halloween Costumes

Last week, we challenged y'all to get creative with costumes you put together using thrifted pieces and I cannot wait to show my favorites. Seriously, the creativity is out of this world!

#thriftscorethursday Week 39 | Trisha from Black and White Obsession, Brynne's from The Gathered Home, Cassie from Primitive and Proper, and Guest Poster: Corinna from For My Love Of

If you're new 'round here,  Brynne from The Gathered Home, Cassie from Primitive and Proper along with our surprise guest poster: Corinna from For My Love Of, invite you to hang out with us on Instagram. Simply snap a pic of your thrifted treasure and throw the #thriftscorethursday hashtag so we can all marvel at your goodies.
We shall begin with the HALLOWEEN COSTUME features:

Alright I know I've featured Gretchen's finds, and she has even guest hosted in the past but how could I NOT feature this costume. It's dead on. I mean the only thing that's missing is shoes. And I totally forgive her since you know, they are in the house and who would want to wreck that pretty rug?!

Amber has this absolutely ADORABLE fully thrifted Pirate costume that she made for her son! Can we get a collective awe?! And then maybe a fist pump for his enthusiasm?!

Can you believe that Shannon patched this outfit together using old t-shirts?! Tell me that is not the most creative use of thrifted clothing ever?! And that sword made from a dollar store piece of foam. Cheah, mega genius!!

And we'll close this post off with my finds... since last week simply didn't have enough awesomesarus Halloween costumes, I present you with the rest of my dress up session:
I'm sure by now y'all have seen the outrageously creative Rio Costumes via Pinterest (if not here's one for your viewing pleasure), but this guy was urrr different?! I have a hunch that it was used for some sort of high school musical or something. Either way I'm sure it was made with love. I mean who ever has the time to stitch that many pieces of fabric to a tired old button up shirt was probably sad to see it go.

This M&M costume was a bit too chilly for our expected snow flurries tomorrow...

This was actually the outfit I saw as I entered the store. It wasn't on the Halloween rack but it just screamed 70's or jazzy. The gold sequins were totally up my alley. All that's missing were some platform shoes.

Oh and that wig- NOT thrifted. Probably right up there with panties- sometimes you just have to say no.

Well that’s all for week 39, my dearies! We thoroughly enjoy scrolling through your entries every week and hope to see your thrifted treasures. It’s pretty easy to play along:
  1. Snap a photo of something that catches your eye or you decided to splurge on from anyplace secondhand (Craigslist, Thrift Stores, Auctions etc).
  2.  Share your photo with the hashtag #thriftscorethursday on Instagram (if your profile is public) and/or Twitter, any day of the week!
*You could be featured next Thursday as your hosts Brynne, Cassie, and I (+a surprise guest host) dish out our favorite scores every week.

Can you really believe it's Halloween TOMORROW?! Feel free to keep uploading those thrifted costumes, we're dying to see all those creative outfits!

  4. So wait... Now I need to know: did you a) buy all those amazeballs costumes and photograph them at home or b) smuggle that blond wig into the thrift store with you?! Either way: you totally rock!!!

Also: snow flurries. Kinda jealous. It was like 90 degrees here yesterday and I'm getting pretty darn ready for cooler temperatures.

  5. Thanks, Trisha! Confession: we actually haven't figured out the shoe part yet....he has sandals, but he doesn't want to wear them. So the shoes will probably not be quite as authentic as the rest ;). That gold dress is awesome.....and that m&m dress is...interesting :)

  6. OMG. The gold glitter sequins 70's dress! Please tell me you bought it and wear it to eat late night snacks in. Or, maybe, that's just a strange thing only I would do. You're so much fun with these costumes, I have a blast looking through them!
