13 #thriftscorethursday Special Halloween Edition

You guys are in for a treat er trick today! Brynne, Cassie, and I invited some of our blogging pals to show you how much fun it is to score second-hand costumes!

We dug through the racks of our local thrift stores and picked some of the cutest, scariest, funniest, weirdest, coolest costumes we could find! We hope you'll join us in this Special Halloween (2 week) Edition!

#thriftscorethursday Week 38 | Trisha from Black and White Obsession, Brynne's from The Gathered Home, Cassie from Primitive and Proper, and Guest Posters: Stephanie from Sand Paper and Glue and Corinna from For My Love Of

If you're new 'round here, normally Brynne from The Gathered Home, Cassie from Primitive and Proper along with our surprise guest host’s: Stephanie from Sand Paper and Glue and Corinna from For My Love Of invite you to show off your thrifted treasures.... However, this week we have a NEW challenge for you!

We invite you to show us your THRIFTED COSTUMES! Whether you're the thrift store champ and bought it all secondhand or you've pieced it together we want to see them! Simply snap a pic of your thrifted costume and throw the #thriftscorethursday hashtag so we can all marvel at your creative Halloween getups.
Alright, I was absolutely FLOORED with the submissions last week!! I wanted to live in each one of your homes for a weekend and pet all your incredible finds! That or just go thrifting together, whatever suits your fancy.

We shall begin with the features:
If you ever wanted to send a Christmas present my way, this set of book ends from Sarah would make me unbelievably happy. She had them for sale in her etsy shop, but they're long gone by now!

I pretty much guarantee most, if not all, of our guest hosts will be featuring these bad arse bookends. Why? Because they're BOSS!

Corny. Moving on.

Predictable feature?! Sure, but just look at the detail on the lens and on the guide on the side. This is what dreams are made of people!!

Can you believe that Kristy scored this beauty for just a few dollars?!

And thrift find of the week goes to Sarah for snagging these Mad-Men-Esque chairs for FREE from her neighbor. She says they're a bit rough but they're totally worth the salvage. The clean lines and that bright orange color... excuse me while I go mop up the drool...

And speaking of orange...

My biggest #thriftscorethursday fan happens to be the MIL, she gets a kick out of our weekly posts. Since you can usually spot us thrifting together, I thought it'd be fun to drag her into our latest #thriftscorethursday idea-- this Halloween Costume hunt. I just knew she would be up for a couple of laughs. Little did she know, she was appointed photographer of the day...
I kid you not, after coming up empty handed at our first two thrift shops... the very first costume I found was this Orange Jumpsuit- er JumpDresss? Immediately I knew it was time to recreate the Orange Is The New Black cover pose.

I may or may not have asked her if she had toilet paper handy. She thought I was crazy. And that's when I knew she hasn't seen an episode. Guess what she's getting for Christmas? It rhymes with Petflix Perscription(?)!

She directed this pose, kid you not. I cropped it for your own good, don't worry I was wearing pants.

The jail dress was $9, a bit more than I was willing to spend. Plus it was kind of short (I live in Wisconsin people!!) and probably required leggings which would have ruined the whole costume anyway. #coldweatherproblems

So what do you think, could I fit in their next casting call?

This one was the MIL's favorite. She wanted me to buy it, but alas both the arm and leg lengths came up a bit short. For a shorty like me, that's rare.

I had to throw in a kiddy costume since they were aplenty that day! I think it was some kind of G.I. Joe. It was a bit uh, small and may have choked me but still fun to pretend!

And I'll close of this week's costumes with this weirdo:

When I pulled this one from the rack, I knew it would be the perfect odd-ball costume. Besides the obnoxious tulle, skin colored fabric (thank goodness it covers everything) and the oddly placed horns- the thing was actually kind of comfy.

I think it's a cross between something Morticia from the Addams family would wear (if it were black), Jessica Rabbit, and some kinda she-devil.

The MIL laughed for a good five minutes. Mission Accomplished.

Well that’s all for week 38, my dearies! We thoroughly enjoy scrolling through your entries every week and hope to see your thrifted treasures. Hold onto those until after Halloween because we're hoping to feature your superhero/odd-ball/adorable thrifted costumes!

*You could be featured next Thursday as your hosts Brynne, Cassie, and I (+a surprise guest host) dish out our favorite scores every week.

I had such a blast dressing up and making the MIL giggle. Nothing better than getting her out of her comfort zone! Annnd, next week along with your costume submissions, I will have another set of costumes in-store for you!

So, here's where I beg you one last time request your participation  in the great thrift score costume hunt! Get out there and try on some silly, scary, or even your creative THRIFTED pieced-together DIY/Crafty costumes. We'll be sharing our favorites next week!
