But before we head off to the thrift store treasures ahead, I made a big announcement yesterday (in case you missed it):
Introducing Outside [the Box] Link Party, a place for even MORE inspiration in the form of DIY, Crafts, Tutorials, Seasonal, Printables, and Craft Projects. Hope to see you there!
This week our surprise guest host is Emily from Go Haus Go, and she’s the pro at balancing light and dark colors. I want every room in her house just for me! Although by now, I’d have probably 10 houses filled with blogger designed rooms!
Alright, so If you’re new here (howdy!) Brynne from The Gathered Home and I (who am I kidding, mostly Brynne) created this challenge to share our passion for thrifting with the Internet.
In other words, please accept our invitation to the best hashtag party around. Just snag a shot of your thrifted find and slap the #thriftscorethursday on Instagram. Then get ready to be jealous over everyone’s thrifted finds.
This week’s features.
I hope that by now you’d see that my favorites vary quite a bit every week. But the one thing you can pretty much guarantee is anything black and white, or close to it will steal my heart (shocking I know!!). Just like these Vintage Pyrex bowls:
Sure they’re not exactly black and white, but they sure are pretty. How often do you really come across such a dark set of bakeware, let alone a VINTAGE set? All I know is Melissa did well this week. Very well indeed.
Be sure to stop by her Instagram for PLENTY more Pyrex finds!!
When I saw this gem from Amber, it reminded me of one I spotted at Hobby Lobby a while back. Come to read all about her dresser and that Pottery Barn Sells it for $999. Jaw Dropping I know. Cheah, she got a heck-of-a-deal at $65- and she probably has no regrets that she painted it to fit her style. I’m sure spending $999, there would have been some hesitation.
Lastly, I couldn’t let this one slip by:
Perfect amount of creep, don’t you think?! Psht, Lea was worried she brought it out too soon for Halloween. As long as it’s after Labor Day, I say fare game!
And now for my “find” this week:
Thrifting while intentionally leaving your wallet at home is absolute torture I tell you. A few tears may have been shed after leaving this tall + skinny beauty behind. I mean just look at those knobs?! It’d be a cold day in h-e-double-hockey-stick if I were to give those beasts up- you know if I would have ponied up the dough for this gal!! But then again the steep (for a cheap-o like me) $65, I guess my wallet thanked me…
Until I opened the drawer and saw this:
At the time, I had no idea what the Brasilia Broyhill name even meant. And after a quick google search, some beauties can fetch a pretty penny. So far I haven’t found this Giselle-esque tall gal around, but my guess (and seriously just a guess) is that since it doesn’t have the signature “U” indents, for lack of better words, on its face that it may not be quite as valuable.
However those knobs they’re another story. It seems as though they are highly sought after. Have you seen a piece like this and can point me in more directions to the origin? I am beyond curious and exhausted my search capabilities...
Needless to say, I'm severely regretting leaving Giselle behind. But it's all part of the thrifting game.
Update: and its Brynne for the win, she found this old brochure online. This tall lady is Broyhill's Lingerie Chest.
Well that’s all for week 32, my dearies! Please tell me you’ll follow along with us?! It’s crazy easy to play along my friends:
- Snap a photo of something that catches your eye or you decided to splurge on from anyplace secondhand (Craigslist, Thrift Stores, Auctions etc).
- Share your photo with the hashtag #thriftscorethursday on Instagram (if your profile is public) and/or Twitter, any day of the week!
Do you have a mad obsession with vintage knobs? When do you drag out your Halloween goodies?

OH SWOON!! i love your find!!!!!! it's amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cassie! I wish it could have been mine. #regret
DeleteThank you SO much for sharing our nightstand! I love all of these finds!! I'm loving Thursday so much more because of this awesome hashtag!!!!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThank YOU for sharing such a lovely piece Amber. I'm so glad to hear we have another thrifter in the house!!
DeleteGaaaa, the Broyhill Brasilia tall boy! I recently scored a pair of Broyhill Brasilia nightstands and the credenza-esque triple dresser from Craigslist and I'm LOVING them. They're so well made and the hardware is insane in the membrane! You can see them here if you're curious: http://redhousewest.com/2014/08/20/a-mega-craigslist-score-and-a-comparison-of-refinishing-techniques/ I will definitely be hashtagging future finds--thanks for a great series!
ReplyDeleteBringing back "insane in the membrane" bravo, Mera!! Thanks for shooting over that link. I found it particularly interesting how much craigslist varies across the country! Your post also has a lot of great tips, thanks!!
DeleteWoohoo - look what I found online: a Broyhill Brasilia piece catalog! Your piece is a lingerie chest, and, *sobs*, apparently very rare...
ReplyDeleteI've so been there before! The most infamous being a piece I way undersold only to have the guy resell it USING MY PHOTOS on eBay for 3x as much.
No wonder I couldn't find it!! I just have to let out a huge waaaaaaaaah!! Arge so close.
DeleteAnd that guy, what a jerk. He's the one who has to live with that conscious.
Seriously that dresser is gorgeous! I have no need for another dresser, but I would have talked myself into it. I guess I could amass lingerie as a hobby?? Is that a thing? The knobs would have won me over. I like to think that who ever bought it really appreciated what they found.
ReplyDeleteMy heart literally stopped when I saw the lingerie chest. I knew before reading below what it was, what it was. I became super familiar with Broyhill in general after scoring my $50 china cabinet last spring (http://formyloveof.net/craigslistscore-part-1/). Next time pee on it, to claim it of course, and come back asap with your wallet.
ReplyDeleteLove that vintage pyrex! I should really start collecting pyrex; I'm a big fan in general. And so sad about the chest....now where will you keep your lingerie?! ;)
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know Pyrex has that pattern-- I love it! :) Great finds this week!
ReplyDeleteAs the proud owner of a Broyhill dresser (my one and only vintage score), I silently sob that this one didn't make it home with you. There will be others!
