For those of you who are new, Brynne from The Gathered Home and I (along with a new guest host each week) are challenging anyone who has access to Instagram to scour your second hand stores/garage sales and slap the hashtag #thriftscorethursday on your finds so we can all marvel at your killer purchase (or #catchandrelease).
This week, we’re honored to have Paula from Virginia Sweet Pea. She really is just the sweetest. At Haven, we got to chatting about some of our FAVORITE thrifty purchases over the years. Boy does she have me beat!
Onto the features, before I get too sidetracked! You guys totally know how to bring it every.single.week. Seriously, I just want to hop in a car and road trip it to your thrift stores!
Kayla from The Gilded Bear kicks off the show with this Ah-mazing Birch Tree Chair. Boo, her soon-to-be-hubby wanted out of an Eames dining room chair. But if this bad boy was the replacement, I guess he’s a keeper!
I’m dying over the cutouts, and those sleek legs. Such a statement piece!
Jessica from Gourley Girl and Guy scored this ginormous Marquee Letter while on vacation. I don’t know which part I’m digging more the bold red, or the sheer size. Either way you’ve gotta check out their tutorial on how to hang it properly (without drilling into the precious letter).
So last week I professed my love of Vintage Cameras, of course they were ones slightly out of my reach. But here’s the start of my stash:
I actually scooped both of these guys up at my local Goodwill sometime this past spring. Somehow I managed to forget about them, I fully blame it on the beau’s fussy organization kick a couple weeks ago where he hid them on me, until I saw the display in Atlanta.
The Polaroid Land Camera was $6.99, and the Impulse was a mere $1.99. Not bad for the start of a collection eh?
I don't know that we should call this one "vintage" as we had one very similar to this growing up...
Of course, neither are worth a whole lot according to ebay, and the 80’s Polaroid isn’t much to gawk at, but I’m really excited to have a couple cameras hoarded away. It certainly helps that either didn’t break the bank. And what really matters is that I LIKE THEM. Not their value on the market.
I particularly fell hard for the Polaroid Land Camera for all its quirks.
That little red button shifts from left to right to take a photo. I’m sure this model hosted blurry shots since you're wrangling the switch while taking a photo. But it’s of the instant variety so quality wasn’t of the utmost importance.
And the accordion folds:
I have a feeling that my collection will be FULL of the accordion style. And someday they’ll be on display in our home maybe something along the lines of this:
Or really any of the lovely displays listed there. Or this, or this. At least there’s plenty of time to devise the perfect set up. In the meantime, I’m on the prowl. Tough.
And this leather carrier. Swoon!
And the accessories, which I'm sure weren't 'add-ons' back then:
Well that’s all for week 27, my dearies! Please tell me you’ll follow along with us?! It’s crazy easy to play along:
- Snap a photo of something that catches your eye or you decided to splurge on from anyplace secondhand (Craigslist, Thrift Stores, Auctions etc).
- Share your photo with the hashtag #thriftscorethursday on Instagram (if your profile is public) and/or Twitter, any day of the week!
You could be featured next Thursday as your hosts Brynne and I (+a third surprise guest host) dish out our favorite scores every week.
Any vintage Camera Recommendations? What’s on your ‘hunted’ thrift store list?
