15 #thriftscorethursday Skylark Camper Trailer

You Guys! I have been WAITING for today, very impatiently, all week long. You have no idea how hard it was not to spill the beans on our biggest #thriftscorethursday purchase to date! But first things first…

Welcome! Brynne from The Gathered Home and I (along with a new guest host each week) challenge YOU to scour your local thrift stores to find unique and interesting pieces! Call us Enablers, with a capital E. Just grab your camera (or cell phone), head to your local thrift stores, and show off your treasures using the #thriftscorethursday on Instagram or #thriftscorethursday on Twitter.

#thriftscorethursday Week 29 | Trisha from Black and White Obsession, Brynne's from The Gathered Home, and Guest Poster: Gretchen from Boxy Colonial

This week, give a warm welcome to our guest host, Gretchen from Boxy Colonial. Both Brynne and I had the privilege of eating a few dinners with Gretchen at Haven.

Each week, it brings me great pleasure to virtually thrift shop with y'all. So many bargains so hard to narrow down to my favorites. This week I’ve fallen head over heels in love with these lovely treasures:
#thriftscorethursday Week 29 | Instagram user: caseymason_ shows off this vintage mirror pineapple

Casey seems to have been bitten by the Pineapple bug HARD. As in, you’ve gotta see the pieces she’s collected. Beyond swoon-worthy I tell ya! Girl’s also after my heart. She finds things to obsess about and then has a hard time staying away from them!

At first glance I thought she found an adorable pineapple LAMP, but after checking out her pineapple haul, it is actually a d├ęcor piece. Either way, the scruffy mirrors and roughed up gold add to its vintage charm!

#thriftscorethursday Week 29 | Instagram user: abubblylife shows off this Vintage Record Player

Laurel found this charming blue and white record player. I could totally see it in just about every design setting- nautical (with that perfect blue), modern with the sleek look, vintage or eclectic next to various aged pieces, etc. She’s decided to use it in her little one’s nursery, how perfect is that?!

#thriftscorethursday Week 29 | Instagram user: brightgreendoor shows off this set of theater seats

Jess from Bright Green Door knocks my socks off yet again (remember the card catalog from a few thriftscorethursdays ago?!).

She found these theater seats at a flea market. It's one of those pieces that is perfect enough that I would have gone straight to the dealer without looking at the price. Just dove right in and timidly take a shot at negotiating. If they didn’t budge, it would matter because it would still be mine. But of course, they’re not mine, they’re Jess’s and she plans on using them in her entryway. How awesome?!

And if those three weren’t enough to throw you over the edge, I present to you our biggest #thriftscorethursday purchase to date, the one, the only 1974 Skylark Camper trailer:

Heart the photo here.

We’ve spent countless hours on Craigslist tracking down the perfect camper trailer. Most of the trailers we found in our area were out of our price range (generally over a grand) for the condition we were looking for. From the get-go envisioned a full remodel all the way down to the trailer frame. Our only requirements were a solid frame, 20 feet in length (or enough room to fit a queen bed), a clean title, and a double axle (four wheels). And then one day, the beau remembered a co-worker had a vintage trailer and started talking to him about it. A few days and a few brainstorming sessions later, the beau asked if he was willing to sell his trailer since it had been sitting vacant for a few years anyway. To our surprise the answer was yes.

The best part was that his starting price was FAR below the grand (we saw elsewhere). What a relief not to have to negotiate with a friend. Basically, we could hardly wait to pick it up (he had to track down his title and clean out his belongings). We settled for a 16 footer, a spotless title, single axle trailer, and a well-built frame. With the the two most important requirements checked off the list, we were fine with downsizing since we got such a steal on it. If anything it will be easier to tow, back into camping spots, and store over winter. We couldn’t be happier!

I could go on and on about our little lady, but we’ll get into more details (including a video tour) soon!

Well that’s all for week 29, my dearies! Please tell me you’ll follow along with us?! It’s crazy easy to play along my friends:
  1. Snap a photo of something that catches your eye or you decided to splurge on from anyplace secondhand (Craigslist, Thrift Stores, Auctions etc).
  2. Share your photo with the hashtag #thriftscorethursday on Instagram (if your profile is public) and/or Twitter, any day of the week!
You could be featured next Thursday as your hosts Brynne and I (+a third surprise guest host) dish out our favorite scores every week.

We cannot wait to get started on our little lady. Coming soon, more pics, more details, and even a moodboard of what direction we think we're going... so stay tuned!!
