3 #thriftscorethursday Vintage Movie Poster

Are you ready for some #thriftscorethursday action today?! I know I am!!

Every Thursday Brynne from The Gathered Home, Megan from Rental Revival and I co-host this little shindig. We beg er politely ask our readers to submit your thrifted scores from your past or present. Why? Because we LOVE checking out stunning antiques, and amazing finds for a fraction of retail cost. That and we love seeing vintage Pyrex make a solid comeback. So snap a photo and hashtag #thriftscorethursday on Instagram or #thriftscorethursday on Twitter.

This week my favorite piece, hands down, was this globe:

Yesterday my Instagram was acting up and all I saw were descriptions for a brief 5 minutes (I know first world problems). So when I read “...A vintage globe bar cart, the globe opens up to store glasses and ice…” I just KNEW I found my globe’s twin. Sure enough as soon as Instagram caught back up with me I confirmed my suspicion. And what’s more amazing was that Kayla’s version had a side table to hold even MORE booze, liqueurs, and schmancy beers. I think I like hers better-- although as far as space is concerned I’m happy with our three and a half foot tall and wide bad boy.

For my #thriftscorethursday find this week, I found this vintage movie poster in an estate sale basement (hence the gloomy look):

Heart the photo here.

At first I found it amusing that four guys would be hanging out on a trombone, dressed in pilot attire with some flowers sticking out the end. I mean from kids in my generation, who wouldn’t? That is until I dug further. I guess this actually a movie poster from some cheesy (so I’ve read) 1978 musical movie featuring Beatles cover songs by the Bee Gees or something. That movie was called Sgt. Pepper'sLonely Hearts Club Band. The estate sale folks had it listed for $20 and from all my quickie online hunting the resale value would have been from $10-$90. Oh and that crease? I guess it’s pretty standard since it was tucked the soundtrack’s Album (check it out here or here).

It was probably a good thing I passed, but that doesn’t stop my curiosity around the historic value of all these treasures!!

Well that’s all for week 19, my dearies! Please tell me you’ll follow along with us?! It’s quite easy to play along my friends:
  1. Snap a photo of your goodies scored from anyplace secondhand (Craigslist, Thrift Stores, Auctions etc).
  2. Share your photo with the hashtag #thriftscorethursday on Instagram (if your profile is public) and/or Twitter, any day of the week!

You could be featured next Thursday as your hosts Brynne, Megan and I dish out our favorite scores every week.

Since the weather is warm here in the north, it’s totally thrifting season. I cannot wait to see what y’all scored at all those flea markets and yard sales!!

  1. Haha, I LOVE that movie poster! I probably would have bought it (even though $20 feels a bit steep!), because I have a thing for wacky wall art :) Flying around on a trombone? Love it!
