Can I get a little raise the roof
action for this week’s #thriftscorethursday?
I mean y’all really know how to get someone to waste the day away, in a totally drool-tastic way of course!!
I think this week we’ve had the most submissions to date (22
on Instagram and four
on Twitter) yet!!
If you’re new around these areas,
Brynne from The Gathered Home, Megan from Rental Revival,
and I created this little challenge- to get out there and scour your thrift
stores, dumpsters, antique stores, auctions, estate sales, or anywhere else
second hand. These finds can be something you scored (probably an amazing
deal), left behind, or laughed so hard your face muscles hurt. Snap a photo and
hashtag #thriftscorethursday on
Instagram or #thriftscorethursday on
Twitter. We’ll mingle and chuckle right along with you. Who knows, maybe
you’ll find some new Insta-friends!!
Are
you ready for this week’s features?!
Be still my beating
geometric heart! My girl Sammi from Every Home is A Castle,
remember her Sunburst Mirror she shared with us?, scooped up this spiky 3D star lamp.
Envious doesn’t quite cover it! Pottery Barn sells a similar lamp for $149, and I’m
betting Sammi scored hers for a fraction of the cost (here’s to hoping she’ll divulge more in the comments below).
I cannot get over
the calming colors, the perfect textures, the angle of the shot, and the
flawless details of this vintage vignette. Imagine that image along the walls of an
art gallery. You simply must check out the rest of her dreamy photos, I
guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
Honorable mention: It should probably
be frowned upon to choose a fellow Host, Megan, but I just couldn’t
resist that jazzercising bear (Ok, I know it’s tennis but it totally looks like
the after activity)! I’m particularly fond her clever nod to Vintage Revivals
hashtag-athon #myvintagerevivals,
and of course Mandi’s stance on oldy moldy design trends (look
at me talking about her like she’s the knick to my knack).
And
now for my #thriftscorethursday find, this week:
Heart the photo here.
I’ve been blessed to find not one, but
TWO vintage typewriters over the course of these 9 weeks. They really hold a
special place in my heart and always remind me of my pops with his early
morning punch, punch, punchety punch punch, zzzzzzt noises. Bonus overshare: my pops is so cool, they
let him have his typewriter when he retired.
This particular one was $30, on the
higher side since I’m so cheap. Plus we’re not ready to own one yet. When
we re-do our upstairs to include a real office, I’d love to incorporate one to
add a slight vintage vibe and bring back fond memories.
Heart the photo here.
This much more vintage typewriter (in
my opinion), zzzt’d in at a healthier wallet friendly, $12.99.
Definitely something I’m sad to have missed out on. Of
course there will be more opportunities in the big world of thrifting!
For now, they’ll be sweetly whispering
sweet nothings as I pass them by.
That’s it for week 9, my friends! Here’s
a quick list (for those Type-A’s like me) to join in on the best hashtag party
ever:
- Snap a photo of something that catches your eye or you decided to splurge on from anyplace secondhand (Craigslist, Yard Sales, Auctions, etc).
- Share your photo with the hashtag #thriftscorethursday on Instagram (if your profile is public) and/or Twitter, any day of the week!
Are you in love with the Spiky Star
lamp? Do you wish you had a collection of typewriters?!

Remember...

I'm jealous that your local thriftstores have typewriters! I've never seen one out and about thrifting around here. You could totally get that second typewriter snapshot printed & frame it!
ReplyDeleteDang girl you always have the best ideas!! And crap, I guess I should have scooped one of them up-- didn't realize they were rare-ish!
DeleteFraction of the cost indeed! £5 so around $7 or $8?
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping in girl!! And holy cowabunga dude, you seriously scored BIG TIME!!
DeleteWhat great vintage typewriters! There's such a wide range of styles, price points and condition with typewriters...makes it difficult to pick just one!
ReplyDeleteThanks Diana! It's almost like 'the evolution of typewriters' when strolling the isles of thrift stores, such great history!
DeleteHahaha I'm late to the commenting, but thanks for the honorable mention. That bear, as I said when I posted it, MEANS BUSINESS. He's all like "BRING IT, DUDES. I'MMA BOUT TO PLAY SOME SWEET TENNIS."
