Umm… can you say
#thriftscoreoftheweek?! Seriously, Deanna found her treasure (only THE
highly coveted Nate Burgess turtle
shell- in TMNT green nonetheless) for THREE Smakeroo-s at her local
Salvation Army. Seriously?! Hook a sista-up! Oh and those Salvation Army folks obviously
didn’t know its value, bless their hearts!
EXTRA points to you Deanna for finally letting me name drop a famous designer, in a non-weird way! Wait…

Alright so I was trying reeeeally hard
not to feature the same person two weeks in a row as she shared her dreamy Renaissance chair (I had a hard time not hopping on a plane to scoop those bad boys up!). But I seriously couldn’t
help myself with my new Blogging-BFF (one can never have enough BBFF’s!!) Dena
from Hearts and Sharts!!
Her laugh-tastic story and absolute bargain is PRICE-less. I’ll admit, I’m
usually extremely open minded to treasures, but when I first laid my eyes on
those ugly bad boys I thought there was no hope- somehow Dena blows me away
every time. Maybe she can give me some tips on painting furniture… in the form
of a DIY Slumber Party, I’ve got my
jammies ready!
What are you waiting for, get over there and check out her hilarious tale, the hideous before, a useful tufting tutorial resource, and how much she paid for the pair RIGHT MEOW!

I lovingly called her my Drabby Experimental
Dresser. Sure, she doesn’t look like much now, but nothing a little paint couldn’t
fix. I scored her during the last stop at a city-wide rummage sale. It was the
last day and she was in the nose-bleed section their multi-family setup-- complete
with far better-more ornate already-sold furniture. Poor sad and lonely girl,
so many people passed by without hesitation. It didn’t have a price tag but the
lady saw my interest and said “$3 and it’s yours.” At three big ones, I
couldn’t pass it up. A trip home to grab the truck and it she wasn’t lonely
anymore. This is starting to sound like a
soap opera…
“So
why ‘Drabby Experimental Dresser,’ I mean I get the drabby part?”
you may be asking yourself. We’ll she just
happen to be the very first ‘daily use’ piece I’ve ever attempted to paint. And
at that price, it was the perfect piece to get my feet wet.
Thanks for joining us this week, my friends!
I hope you’ll join us?! It’s incredibly easy to play along my friends:
- Snap a photo of something that catches your eye or you decided to splurge on from anyplace secondhand (Auctions, Craigslist, Thrift Stores, Yard Sales, etc).
- Share your photo with the hashtag #thriftscorethursday on Instagram (if your profile is public) and/or Twitter, any day of the week!
Have you found any inexpensive pieces
lately? Are you uber jealous of Deanna’s
Salvation Army salvage? Were you ever blown away by other’s drab to fab
makeovers? Any guesses on what color Ms Drabby Experimental Dresser was
painted?
