Two weeks in a row, and our fellow thrift store junkies er professionals find a bunch of NateBerkus stuff- umm can you say jealous?! This time the lovely Ashley, from Bigger than the Three of Us, hits the jackpot at her area Goodwill. That navy bedding set, and that gold plate are absolutely divine!! The other pieces are simply gorgeous as well! Can you believe she says that she leaves behind more than she buys, umm, hook a sista up! Here’s to hoping I’ll end up in her neck of the woods someday scooping up treasures left and right!

I’m so excited to share my #thriftscorethursday find with you guys today!!

I have a little back story behind this seen-better-days Wicker Patio Set. The other day the MIL and I decided to have a thrifty morning (which is our idea of a FABULOUS time). Our route consisted of quite a few back roads which forced us to go through this newer-subdivision. Low and behold, it was garbage day. Thinking nothing of it, as we’re on the last track of our trip, I spot the three piece set.

Mid-sentence I mumble something terribly inaudible, and somehow then get up the nerve to ask her if we can go check it out. I was worried she’d judge me (for some reason). To my surprise she said yes, as we’re about a half mile passed the chairs. As we backtracked, we grew overly concerned about two things: the size of the furniture (since we were in a smaller sporty-ish vehicle) and she remembered passing the garbage truck on the way in.

As we neared, I was overly ecstatic that they we were thankfully still there. I hopped out and went to see if anyone was home- we figured we’d ask if they’d let us put them further up their long driveway safe from the garbage-people. All I got were some adorable pups barking away at the sound of the doorbell. Rats.

Then, out of some sort of miracle, the MIL realized we were only a few blocks from her previous employer (sort of an in-home care) and we awkwardly stuffed a chair in the trunk hoping that they’d let us store them in the garage until later that evening when we had adequate transportation.

This is a reenactment with our much bigger car folks, my phone ate the real proof. Heart the photo here.

I stayed behind on the first trip to guard the remaining chair and table. Good thing too because not two minutes later:

...and their fate may have been a little different. Wowza, just in the nick of time!

As she was pulling into her former employer’s driveway the chair bounced out of the trunk and in the middle of the road.  Thankfully the chair was ok, and her former boss not only allowed us to keep them there but said she was about to pick them up the night before. I proceeded to ask the MIL if she gave her a stern mean-muggin to back off the chairs and she laughed and reassured me I had nothing to worry about.

Later that evening we picked them up without a hitch and they were allllll mine! These bad-boys were sheer luck of the draw, so many times I could have missed the FREE opportunity. My lucky day!

Sure they could use a little lovin', but it’s nothing a few new pieces of wicker caning, some light pressure washing, and a nice coat of spray paint can’t fix. I’m thinking a deep Navy color.

Well that’s all for week 7, my dearies! Please tell me you’ll follow along with us?! It’s crazy easy to play along my friends:
  1. Snap a photo of something that catches your eye or you decided to splurge on from anyplace secondhand (Craigslist, Thrift Stores, Auctions etc).
  2. Share your photo with the hashtag #thriftscorethursday on Instagram (if your profile is public) and/or Twitter, any day of the week!
Would you take a pass on drabby ‘ol wicker? Do you enjoy the occasional roadside treasures? What color would you repaint the wicker?
