6 #thriftscorethursday Brassy Chandelier

Welcome Back!! Is it already Thursday again? Are we already three weeks into our #thriftscorethursday series?! As you may remember, Brynne from The Gathered Home, Megan from Rental Revival and I are challenging YOU to scour your local thrift stores to find comical, fun, or even gorgeous treasures! So say you’ll join us by grabbing your camera (or cell phone), head to your local thrift stores/yard sales/craigslist, and show off your treasures using the #thriftscorethursday on Instagram or #thriftscorethursday on Twitter.
#thriftscorethursday Week 3 | Trisha from Black and White Obsession, Brynne's from The Gathered Home, and Megan from Rental Revival

Last week, Megan reminded me of my childhood pretending to be Rumpelstiltskin with her antique spinning wheel.

And then Paula from Virginia Sweet Pea, proudly displayed her perfectly festive Heart Jell-O Mold.

I can tell we share a soft spot for Jell-O molds (although I use mine as cement molds to create garden decorations).

For this week's #thriftscorethursday find, I dug up and dusted off our Brassy Chandelier:

After spotting the chandy at one of my top-secret thrift stores and doing a triple take on the price tag (it was $6!!!), I knew I that sucka was coming home with me! Considering our local Re-stores sell a much smaller yet similar 5-bulbed Brassy Chandeliers for $25-35, it was hard to feel like I wasn’t STEALING it for that price. Totally worth any kinda lecture I’d get from the beau.

Ready for the longest sentence ever? Here goes….

I was thinking about doing something different with this brass beaut, you know besides a hefty dose of spray paint (you can catch a glimpse in our kitchen here), but my BFF Brynne (and co-host) may convince me otherwise. I mean with her leopard print and brass fixation (like her bed frame or her floor lamp) ... we’re on the verge of become twinsies?!  Haha, right I wish, she’s waaay more classy and fashionable than I.

I hope we can incorporate that bad boy into a future ‘vintage-y’ bathroom using our clawfoot tub and our vintage dresser craigslist score we have planned for our second upstairs bathroom. But who knows where we’ll end up. Oh and I wasn’t kidding last week when I mentioned that we’re stockpiled full of pieces just begging for their time in the limelight.

What do you think, should I leave the Chandelier alone or add some flare? If your vote is for flare, any ideas on what to do with it? I'm at a loss...

Well friends, here is where I turn the tables- what have you found at your thrift stores lately? We’d love to see them on Twitter or Instagram,

  1. Heck yeah, we are twinsies! That's the first thing I thought when I saw the photo, and then I scrolled down and saw that you said the same thing - psh, you are too sweet :) But I have one word for you: coral. How cool would that be?! Especially with a claw foot tub! The brass is super fun too though - I'm all for adding a little gold bling in any space, as you well know :)

    1. Oh, Coral hadn't thought of that!! I've been looking for the perfect place to splash it in and our bathroom could be it! Thanks girl!

  2. I think you did get a steal. I sold that exact chandelier at my yard sale last summer for $90. It had been my plan to paint it, but the brass grew on me. In the end I replaced it with a fixture from my grandparents' house. I do love that chandelier though!

    1. Holy cats, $90?! That's amazing!! Maybe they're not 'popular' yet in our area (which is most likely the case). I'm so torn, brass is starting to grow on me...

  3. Thanks for including my jello mold in Thrift Score Thursday! I'm going to the Outer Banks this weekend and hope to find something unique there while thrifting.

I think the chandelier looks good as is but if you paint it, it will still be great. You got a great price on it!
