There's just something about the holidays that makes me want to pack away all my home decor and go all Martha Stewart and bedazzle everything. But alas, our holiday traditions are at a standstill- as in I'm a bit decor paralyzed. That is why I'm super excited to live vicariously through y'all and your Outside [the Box]-crazy beautiful decked halls.
9 #thriftscorethursday Tiles, Tiles and more tiles
Welcome back to #thriftscorethursday. We're so glad you're here. In case you missed the memo a few weeks ago, Brynne and I have two new-ish co-hosts with us and we're thrilled they're just as nutty as we are about thrift stores.

11 #thriftscorethursday Yellow Planters
40 weeks. 40 weeks of this #thriftscorethursday madness. A LOT has happened in 40 weeks.
We went from three hosts, to two for many weeks. Brynne and I and all you lovelies out there bonded over the thrill of the hunt. Then we did a call for guest hosts (which is still available, see the bottom of the post). Then finally, we added Cassie as a permanent host and just last week, Corinna was the latest to join our cast of thrifters. We've reached over 1,200 hashtagged thrift scores over on Instagram and couldn't be more proud.
We are so absolutely thrilled for each and every one of you and your killer finds. Like Brynne said here "I wish the technology existed to teleport #thriftscorethursday finds." But then we'd be a super-mega hoarders.
If you're new 'round here, Brynne from The Gathered Home, Cassie from Primitive and Proper, and Corinna from For My Love Of, along with our surprise guest poster: Morgan from Charleston Crafted, invite you to hang out with us on Instagram. Simply snap a pic of your thrifted treasure and throw the #thriftscorethursday hashtag so we can all marvel at your goodies.

It's Tuesday which means it's time for my favorite inspiration party: Outside [the Box]! I'm so excited to see what you've been up to this week. I hope to see a lot of Thanksgiving posts as I'm fresh out of ideas on that holiday!
3 DIY Canvas Jewelry Holder
How to make hanging canvas Jewelry Storage:
Once upon a time this girl (points to self) never wore jewelry. Boys must have been in heaven- no expectations for awkward jewelry purchase for valentines day. I had a hard time even wearing a diamond ring-- I was once married and a bit more of a tom boy back then.
Then one day I found my ‘style’ which happen to be the bolder/gaudier the better. Still sort of is. It usually involved moustache rings (before that was a fad) and owl necklaces (also before it was a fad). Originally I tossed them in a bowl and dug around every time I wanted to dress up my outfit. I found myself growing increasingly annoyed when reaching for tangled necklaces and quickly outgrew that method. Of course a traditional jewelry box wasn’t going to cut it… oh no. I simply HAD to make something that fit my lifestyle.

Because I'm if nothing but a procrastinator to the core, I've got a not one but TWO posts for y'all today! In case you missed it, earlier today I posted this Black and Gold Glam Halloween Tablescape (you'll also see a preview below) to inspire all those last minute Halloween preppers!
Anywho, it's time for your weekly Outside [the Box] party! You best believe I'm ready to see your outrageously amazing projects!!

21 Black and Gold | Glam Halloween Tablescape
Some years I’m all about the cheese when it comes to decorating for Halloween... goofy cartoon characters, dancing skeletons, painted styrofoam props, you name it-- the cheesier the better. However, this year I shifted my focus to a more sophisticated feel-- with the exception of our scary doors of course. I think it has a lot to do with my new-found fondness for gold. Especially paired with Black.
I blame it on my good friend Brynne and her glorious Gold-Leafed Art. It was love at first sight. I’m so enamored by it, I may even consider changing this whole black and white thing to black and gold obsessed....
If the past is any indication of how we decorate for the holidays *cough Independence Day cough* I typically create a tablescape just to host a Pinterest-inspired delicious dinner for friends and family. And this year Halloween is no exception:
But before getting any further, I just wanted to make it clear that my dear friends at Wayfair helped sponsor today’s post. They gave me freedom to post about whatever I wanted and buy/make stuff from wherever/however I wanted (since I’m a procrastinator, just about everything was purchased/found locally). But their site is STOCKED with some seriously sophisticated finds- they aren’t paying me to say that- pinky promise. And look they even have a section dedicated to gold. Ok maybe I just used their search feature but whatevs.
What they really wanted me to tell you was that they’re running a Halloween Decorating Contest. And the winner gets $500 to spend on the Wayfair site. Cheah, coolest company or what?! So after I finish chatting about our tablescape, head on over there and show them how you decked out your schmancy, frightening, or cutie-patootie home/room/porch for Halloween.

Welcome welcome welcome to this week's incredible Outside [the Box] party! I cannot wait until you see our features this week, they're mighty pretty!!
13 How to Save Clothing using Rit Dye
Continuing with the digging-through-a-bunch-of-old-photos (remember #thriftscorethursday last week?!), I came across these pics on a successful experiment attempted years ago while fixing a dress with Rit Dye. It was back when I was renting from my pops, hence there’s a stove (remember we don't own one) and some old-school vinyl... the flooring not the records. And today I’m going to show you How to Save Clothing using Rit Dye:
This pretty little dress almost brought me to tears after washing it ONE time before even getting the chance to wear it. You see those pretty little *evil* red-dyed-wooden beads? Well, the dye from suckers seeped onto the fabric part of the dress during its first solo wash of doom.
7 #thriftscorethursday Glass Obsession Take Two
If you remember waaay back to our Fifth Thrift Score Thursday, I admitted my glass obsession and have since shared a few pieces of said collection-- namely just the Decanter Set, Drink Dispenser, three pieces from the best thrifting weekend ever, martini glasses, and "Rare" shot glasses but who's counting?!... we'll today I'm ready to showcase some pieces scored during a thrifting haul years ago.
If you're new 'round here, Brynne from The Gathered Home, Cassie from Primitive and Proper along with our surprise guest poster Corinna from For My Love Of, invite you to hang out with us on Instagram. 6 #thriftscorethursday School Lockers
First, Brynne and I are proud to announce our new PERMANENT host... Cassie from Primitive and Proper!!

You better believe my expression resembled Clark Grizwold on Christmas when everything was confirmed. You guys are going to LOVE her, she co-owns a barn sale full of vintage and handmade items. So you KNOW she's a thrifting superstar!
Now I know what you're thinking, but I REALLY wanted to join in and guest host- don't worry y'all we're still accepting entries (just scroll to the bottom for those deets). In fact, today Anna from LeCraftur is back (remember? Brynne and I bombarded her with questions about her Thrift Shop?!).
Next, I’m over at All Things Thrifty today sharing a fabulous Rain and Snow Printable you simply DON'T want to miss! Click the image below to hop over there when you're done here!
Alright let's get this party started!!!!

16 Free Halloween Print: Frankenstein Wall Art
I know I’ve already declared my love for Halloween, but seriously, I just can’t get enough! I think a lot of the fondness comes from my love of change… especially since the last decorating holiday, Independence Day was over three months ago!
Which is why I was super excited when Holly (from Design Dazzle) organized this event (with over 110 talented friends) to bring you these spectacular Halloween ideas! You’ll be sure to find SOMETHING with all the costumes, parties, décor, printables, recipes and crafts galore!! So stay tuned until the end of the post!
The whole printable is inspired by the song “Relax” by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. To me Frankie is short for Frankenstein and since there's already an 80's Halloween vibe, I thought the Michael Jackson's Thriller coat would be a fun addition.

18 Movie Themed, Halloween Door Decorations
Howdy!! This
month's Craft Lightning challenge (hosted by Country Chic
Cottage and 30 Minute
Crafts) was to
create a Halloween Craft in 15 minutes or less. I chose four different movies
that had memorable yet somewhat easy masks like the late Heath Ledger's Joker, Black
Swan, Jigsaw, and V for Vendetta:
Back in the
day I was REALLY into scary movies... around the time when the first three Saw
movies came out. I remember that inviting friends over for a scary movie
marathon was my idea of the perfect Halloween celebration (along with Haunted
House trips of course).
As I grew older, I became even more fond of Halloween. One night a year you get to dress up and become someone else? Sign me up! Then I met my boyfriend and one of our very first projects as a couple was designing and making our Zombie Lego Man Costumes.
Which is why over the next couple weeks, you will see many Halloween related posts....

7 FONTS FONTS FONTS: 15 Fun, Edgy, & Free
Are you ready for another set of free fonts?! This time, I’m really excited because they’re
some of my favorite geometric-ish fonts. Since I tend to overuse that phrase I decided
to spare you and label it 15 Fun, Edgy
& Free Fonts!!
Since I've gotten a few font resource requests from various projects (like the Outside [the Box] Link Party graphics, our beer bbq sauce recipe, or the John Legend’s All of Me Inspired Desktop Backgrounds), I thought showing off some of my font addiction would help feed yours- you're welcome! This time ‘round, let’s source edgy/geometric-ish fonts:
You can find all the fonts for free by clicking the links below:
Fonts have a quadrillion uses, like printed envelopes (for those handwritten letters), printable artwork, iPhone/desktop backgrounds, birthday party invitations, Christmas Cards + a whole lot more.
But before I let you go, I simply must give a shout out to Austin from Austie Bost Fonts. You see a couple months ago, the universe came together... A font MAKER and a font LOVER. You have no idea how excited I was when a long time admired font creator left a comment on my blog asking little 'ol ME to contact her.
At first I thought "oh, no did I fail to give credit where it was due." Instead just the opposite, she wanted ME to get in on the creative process. I got to sit back and witness a font, Austie Bost Envelopes, come to life before my eyes. Never in a million years would I ever think these kind of opportunities could come my way. This is exactly why I love my job.
Now I know this font isn’t geometric but can we all marvel at it’s beauty?!
So now I ask you, what kind of projects do you use fonts for?!

Are you also a font junkie? I have these wicked-awesome Pinterest boards specifically dedicated to fonts + typography and dedicated to Graphical Geniuses, you’re welcome!
Looking for more fonts within this series? You can find those here.

13 #thriftscorethursday Mid-Century Modern Dresser
Is it just me or does it seem like every #thriftscorethursday seem like a history lesson in disguise?! Never would I have imagined I’d begin to recognize designer names and valuable pieces thanks to this series.
But before we head off to the thrift store treasures ahead, I made a big announcement yesterday (in case you missed it):
Introducing Outside [the Box] Link Party, a place for even MORE inspiration in the form of DIY, Crafts, Tutorials, Seasonal, Printables, and Craft Projects. Hope to see you there!
This week our surprise guest host is Emily from Go Haus Go, and she’s the pro at balancing light and dark colors. I want every room in her house just for me! Although by now, I’d have probably 10 houses filled with blogger designed rooms!

12 Outside [the Box] No. 1
Hello and welcome to our very first Outside [the Box] Link Party! We are ridiculously excited to showcase YOUR creative out-side-the-box projects. From personalized art made from unlikely materials, to hardware store inventions, to out of this world re-purposed creations- we’re DYING to see it all!
The neat-o thing is that not only could your project be featured here, on Google + and everywhere else socially, but it’s also promoted by FIVE other snazzy blogs and their social channels as well. So picture us getting our game face on, raising the roof yelling “who let the dogs out” as you link your latest and greatest projects!
Just in case you regulars are confused, this party is entirely different than the #thriftscorethursday hashtag party I co-host in that Outside [the Box] is genius creations made by YOU whereas TST is sharing your secondhand/thrifty splurges.

35 Freezer Paper | Handmade Cloth Napkins
It’s silhouette challenge time!! In case you’re unfamiliar, a bunch of silhouette-lovin’ bloggers get our craft on every month using our cutting machines. This month’s theme is Home Décor, so I’m going to show you how to make these freezer paper cloth napkins:
A little backstory… Back in April, while getting ready for Snap! (a conference for crafty bloggers), I decided to sign up for one of their events… ‘Secret Sisters.’ Basically, every participant was assigned to a blogger, given free reign to freely stalk their site to get to know them. Then, participants were to make/buy three small gifts for each day of the conference keeping our identities secret. The very last day and the last gift we introduced ourselves to our secret sister. Exciting right?!
The lovely organizers set up mini questions every few days to help us make/buy the perfect gifts for our partner. Questions like favorite color, favorite candies, alcohol yay or neigh, etc.
My secret sister was none other than Sunny from Dandelion Square. She’s super creative and since the conference was all about celebrating creativity… I figured why not make some handmade gifts? Since yellow is one of her favorite colors, and we seemed to have similar styles—I made her white and yellow cloth napkins. I choose three pattern styles for the six napkins: 2 Swiss crosses, 2 feathers and 2 triangles.
Supplies
*Since the sheets are secondhand, run through the washer before you begin (since they're white- I recommend the hottest cycle with bleach).
Instructions
I must admit the process became somewhat tedious after the second or third napkin to which stamping may have been easier. However, they still turned out lovely!
Freezer paper is so versatile and the possibilities are simply endless. Which style is your favorite?

Supplies
- Fabric medium (makes the paint fabric ready)
- Acrylic paint Paint sponge
- *Bed sheet (estate sale bargain)
- Silhouette cameo
- Freezer paper
- Rotary cutter
- Iron
- Sewing machine (not shown)
*Since the sheets are secondhand, run through the washer before you begin (since they're white- I recommend the hottest cycle with bleach).
Instructions
- Cut 6 square napkins from the bed sheet using a rotary cutter (seriously the best tool ever!). Ours were 9.5” square including .5” seams, which is ‘cocktail size.’ This size fits fine on the standard 12” silhouette mat (napkin size varies according to this).
- Using your sewing machine, miter each corner of the napkins. Here’s a handy tutorial from my dear friend and fellow thrift lover- Tanya at Dans le lakehouse.
- Design your ‘stencils’ using Silhouette Studio.
- Place your freezer paper waxy side down on your mat and cut using the following settings blade 3, speed 3, thickness 10 (be sure to test since machine/weather may vary).
- Iron your designs to each napkin with the waxy side down. Be sure to concentrate your efforts around each cut.
- Like recommended in my directors chair tutorial, mix 1 part acrylic paint to 2 parts fabric medium. Place scrap paper/fabric under your napkins and then paint.
- Let dry for about an hour. Gently peel away freezer paper stencils.
- Let dry over night. Place scrap fabric over the painted design and iron to seal the paint.
I must admit the process became somewhat tedious after the second or third napkin to which stamping may have been easier. However, they still turned out lovely!
