12 DIY Failures: Around the Blogosphere No. 2

Welcome back to Around the Blogosphere where some of the most spectacular tutorials are showcased from the most creative blog friends (or co-workers if you will) I know. Today's theme is actually DIY Failures so get your pencils and take notes, my friends, on what NOT to do...

These brave souls showed off a project that didn't quite go as expected and decided to man up and share their misfortunes with the world.

First up, I had to start with a fearless duo that submitted not one but TWO juicy posts. Check out how making gluten free banana muffins turn into a mushy mess:

Here's the other tale on how Cooking Karma will creep right back-acha when you're overly confident.

Then there's Danielle's story of how her Picaken (a pie baked in a cake) turned into a 10lb cake.

A couple trips to the grocery store and some bulkier triceps, not a bad exchange!

Next up is my girl Brynne (check out her guest posted here), talking about her 7 years of bad luck.

I think I have a new favorite quote: "I try to balance the “ooh pretty” with the “ooh, rhymes-with-pretty-but-starts-with-sh” aspects of life."

Check out how the search for rolling storage bins turns into bumper cars

I think she's onto something...

And for an added bonus, are a few fun Pinterest Fails.
Who cares if it still tastes good right?

Hmm, walk away slowly. Blame it on the kids.

Speechless.

Psst, did you know there's an entire website dedicated to this very topic? Well now you do. And if one wasn't enough, here's another.

I have a lot less cojones than these brave souls. However, I managed to dig up this failure back when I was making a roomie gift for the Maiedae Mixer:

Let's just say I have a love-hate relationship with printers. Just because I only found a does not mean that bombing projects doesn't happen around here, trust me it happens. a.lot. Maybe one of these days I'll gather the courage to display a bombed project.

Hope you got a kick out of, a laugh or general empathy for these courageous individuals showing off their failures. Around the Blogosphere- DIY Fails on this fabulous Friday afternoon.

Do you give your printer the evil eye and declare it your arch nemesis? Please tell me I'm not alone. On the other hand, if you have the printer Gods on your side, please tell me your secret...

Can't get enough Around the Blogosphere's? Get stuck in the Internets time warp check them out here.

PSST. Next week, I'm going to show you the procrastinator's way to throw a party for your special one.

From invitations, to decorations, to the gift-- you'll hear all about it. The party won't be perfect, there may have been a late night giggle/bond-fest involved, and I must say, his gifts hold a special place in our heart. So stay tuned!!

  1. Thanks for featuring my mirror disaster! I now can blame any and all future DIY fails on my seven years of bad luck rather than my lack of crafting prowess...

I actually think the faded/smeared flag print is kinda cool though - just call it "vintage primitive Americana" and you can totally claim it as intentional ;)

    1. Oh I like "vintage primitive Americana" I knew there was a reason we are buds haha!

Wish I had an excuse for failed projects! I'd milk the mirror excuse every project that took a turn for the worse haha!

  2. I started losing it at the pumpkin cake. The patriotic cake is tear worthy. The manicure? I'm pretty sure the same would happen to me!

  4. I've tried the marbled nail art. And it was horrific. I even taped off my nails just to make sure it didn't get everywhere. Nope. Still got everywhere.

  6. Thank you so much for including me in the round-up. Those cakes are just too much! And the nail polish... I've been dying to try, but have a feeling my hands would look like those you shared. It's good to laugh at ourselves right. ;)

    1. Thanks, Danielle, for being so brave and letting me share your failure! I think my nails would somehow end up worse than the ones pictured above.

      Much love,
