A little prequel my friends:
My girl Lauren from The Thinking Closet (whom I had the privilege of meeting at Haven this year) hosts a Monthly Silhouette Challenge. She's been inviting me since August and I haven't gotten the nerve to bust out my Silhouette Cameo and jump on the bandwagon to this great challenge. Sure I've used the machine before plenty but to actually post among some pretty talented ladies- queue the nerves.
If you recall, this girl (thumbs pointed to self) decided to throw a Simpsons themed surprise birthday for her beau in less than two weeks. Cheah talk about procrastination. Anywho, combining the needs to accept the Silhouette Challenge and create invitations... BAM the vision hit me hard, 3D Homer Simpson Birthday Invitations, using my Silhouette Cameo.
To make matters a little easier, I could even use another project as the foundation for the invitations. Queue the files from the Directors Chairs:
Photoshop:
Sihouette Studio:
Spoiler alert: the invitations turned out better than envisioned:
My apologies for the lighting, it was late at night and we were already cross-eyed.

DeleteWhat a great series, Trisha! As a last-minute party planner myself, I need a Procrastinator's Guide. But looking at these FANTASTIC invites, it appears you are doing just fine in the final hour! Wow. Those look seriously profesh.
ReplyDeleteAnd as someone who like to write the way I talk, I have to say I really appreciated this line: "Cheah talk about procrastination." Hah! I've never seen it spelled out like that before, but I could hear your voice loud and clear. Might need to start using that (thanks for the inspiration both in Silhouette land and colloquial vocabulary!).
Delighted to have you join us this round, Trisha! Brava!
It means so much to me hearing from you Lauren, you always have the right things to say!! Some of my finest work comes from deadlines!
DeleteBahaha, it's kind of fun trying to spell out the sound effects that come out of my mouth haha.
Hope to continue to join the lovely ladies, and put the ol Silhouette to good use!
I love this idea!! I make my own invitations and have them printed locally. I NEED a Silhouette.
ReplyDeleteHi Marsha, thanks for stopping by!!
DeleteI usually send stuff to my local printer for anything that requires color or a lot of ink since I have a serious love hate relationship with any printer that I come in contact with haha!
that is so great for the homer simpson lover- how cool!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelly, thanks for stopping by! I wish I was kidding when I say that the beau is a Simpsons Fanatic. I think we need to add onto the house just to fit his collection haha!
