“Let’s get READY to Rumblllleeee!” Michael Buffer. Random
tidbit: back in High School Michael -a celebrity which is a BIG deal around here- came and announced the starting lineups at a
basket ball game against our rivalry school. Too bad I was the geek in band
waiting for the queue to begin the rest of the space jam theme song. It was an
adrenaline rush and a memory to never forget.
All floor plans are drawn without any modifications, untouched, and are exactly how the layout was when we purchased the home. Let's begin on the main level:
Before we moved in, the entire first floor was our main concern. Our primary goal was to make this section "livable." Which meant: scrub, scrape, paint, clean, remove, demo, etc.
The staircase which located in the middle of the house, brings you to the second story of our Craftsman Bungalow Style home. The windows and walls may seem odd because we have dormers and there is a pitched roof. Luckily the roof line meets the wall at about 3 feet, so when we tackle this area, hopefully we can regain some much needed storage space. Pictures should help to visualize the space (House Tour Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3).
The basement is a somewhat typical farmhouse basement. We are lucky that we don’t have a fieldstone foundation basement which is bumpy and has a stone-like texture. Many other homes we looked at had that style foundation. Rather we have a block style basement, which requires some minor repair. Also, the basement is about 5’4” which is just enough room where I can comfortably stand, but tall people, not so much. It also has a cistern, which was used to catch and store rainwater back in the day. Not sure what we'll do with the cistern yet.
Lastly, here is the ‘floor plan’ view outside. The property line actually goes down a steep decline to a creek below. The landscaping is quite random including dead/dying plants or trees. It does have some treasures as in one of the berms has a large mature asparagus crown and plenty of green onions- yumm!
I hope to have a picture/video tour for the house real soon- lots of editing, condensing, song choosing, etc.

I love old homes, you are hard pressed to find homes over 100 years old around my parts :)
ReplyDeleteWhat did you use to make your floor plans?
I love it!
I really appreciate you stopping by Christina! I love oldie homes with lots of character. I think our home was stripped of all the character back in the 70s.
ReplyDeleteI actually used Photoshop- all those trees, made by hand. I found Jen's kitchen layout inspirational: http://iheartorganizing.blogspot.com/2011/08/its-here-kitchen-cabinet-tour.html
I like this house. I'm also wondering what you used to draw your plans. I love drawing floor plans. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHello there, thanks for stopping by! Bobby, I used the vector portion of Photoshop to draw the plans.
