1 Our Home, House Tour: The Before Part 1

This series of home posts are events which occurred in the distant past, please bear with me until I catch up to the present.

Part 1, is the first floor, you are here.
Part 2, is the exterior.
Part 3, is the upstairs.

It’s time for the long awaited house tour post (procrastination much?). In all reality though, two videos and lots of pictures meant research, digging all over for photos, some overnighters, and here it is. Oh and it may be helpful to review the floor plan layout here.

Lastly, if you could take a few moments to submit your vote as to what room we should tackle first at the bottom of this post. This way you choose what ugly room you want to see transformed first.

Tri-pod steady version
If you get motion sickness there are two spots where it may get a little shaky from about 00:12- 00:33 seconds (the entry) and 1:13-1:54 (the bathroom). This video left out a view of the upstairs, hallway leading to bedroom 2, and the basement. And lastly, most of the video was shot vertically.

Walk through version
If you’re prone to seizures or car sickness, you may wish to pass on this version. This video shows the layout of the house. It also takes a tiny peak at the upstairs and the basement.

Update: For those on mobile try youtube here (Tri-pod steady version) and here (Walk through version).

Each video is a little different. Let me tell ya, it was very difficult to try to convince the boyfriend to wait until I took compete before pictures and videos thus some sections some things disappeared and the reason for the lack of good pictures below,

Pretty ugly stuff huh? I assure you though, it may not look like much now, but we’ve made a ton of improvements since then that I can’t wait to go into.

And for those of you who cannot watch the videos, here are some stills. Some of them are the best I can do, we lost a few photos in the two month chaos. Apologies in advance for the blurry shots, they are stills captured directly from the video. Needless to say the shots are far from my best work.

To be fair, the dark stuff on the carpet to the right from a grout that broke open. P.S. we tried to cover the orange with various rugs- not working out so hot.
This is what smoke residue leaves behind.

We used the kitchen as a 'catch all' in the beginning.

There was a, uh, tasteful light switch left behind.

Living room & Office

To spare you, we did some cleaning before most of the photos were taken. That fruit punch in the living room, well we hoped it wouldn’t be permanent.

While I’m working on Parts 2 & 3, maybe you would be so kind as to take my little poll below to help decide what room we tackle first. I assure you, we tackled many things in all of these areas. The posts will go in the results order, so choose as many as you'd like.

What room should we tackle first?

  1. Everyone has to start somewhere, so don't be too disheartened. The worse the before pics, the better and more dramatic your after pics will be. You guys have your work cut out for you so I'll be rooting for you and tracking your progress. Good luck!
